Overview
EarthAlert is a simple earthquake monitoring app. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Data We Collect
Location Data
- EarthAlert requests your device location to calculate distances to nearby earthquakes.
- Location data is used only within the app and is never stored on our servers.
- Location access can be denied; the app will still show global earthquake data without distance calculations.
Advertising (AdMob)
- EarthAlert displays banner ads via Google AdMob.
- AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and approximate location for ad personalization.
- All ads are configured with
requestNonPersonalizedAdsOnly: true.
- For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not store your location history.
- We do not track your usage behavior.
- We do not share any data with third parties (except AdMob as described above).
Third-Party Services
EarthAlert uses the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program API (earthquake.usgs.gov) to retrieve earthquake data. This is a read-only public API. No personal data is sent to USGS.
Children's Privacy
EarthAlert does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
